Overweight, obesity or physical inactivity.
A close relative (first or second degree) with diabetes mellitus.
Belonging to a particular race/ethnic group (Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanics, Asians/ South Pacific Islanders).
Signs of insulin resistance or conditions associated with insulin resistance, such as high blood pressure (hypertension), low good cholesterol and/or high triglyceride levels (dyslipidemia), and polycystic ovarian syndrome
Pregnancy diabetes mellitus (gestational diabetes)

Normal blood glucose levels on an empty stomach in healthy people are 70 - 125 mg/dL or 3.9 - 6.9 mmol/l. Low blood sugar FBS or hypoglycemia is when the blood level in diabetic patients falls below 70 mg/dL or about 55 mg/dL (3 mmol/l) in healthy people, says Mr. Denis.
High blood sugar or hyperglycemia is when your blood glucose level is too high, above 126 mg/dL or 7 mmol/l.
The normal range of blood sugar in a healthy person's fasting is between 70 and 125 mg/dL.
